VR Round Up 16.06.13

*Re-learning *Radler *Stylight Goodies *Skype Date *Party Lift
*Cocktail Jar *London *V&A *Dancing Shoes *Tiger Cake

+ Explanations - I wanted to give a bit of an explanation about why my blog posting has become so sparse lately and so here goes...For a while, I was really unhappy at the job which I had relocated to Sheffield for and inevitably these feelings had a knock-on effect on everything else in my life and really got me down. However, a few weeks ago, I made the big decision to hand my notice in and leave. Not everyone agreed with my decision but, I think that when you are doing something day in and day out, it is only you who knows whether something is right or in my case, when it is not. I have been very fortunate and after some hardcore searching/applying/interviewing I managed to secure a great new job in Marketing and start on the 1st of July. There have been some tough times over the last few weeks but I think things are finally starting to look up and hopefully my move to Sheffield was a positive one after all... A big thank you to all my supportive and wonderful friends and family (especially those who took the time to visit, skype etc...)!

+ Let The Fun Begin - With less than a week until I jet off to Turkey, I have been treating this time as a pre-holiday of sorts and taking full advantage of my free time. Sadly the gym has fallen by the wayside but, in it's place, I've been out dancing drinking twice this week, made an impromptu trip to London (where I caught up with some many of my lovely friends) and re-learnt how to ride a bike (bit pathetic that I hadn't rode one in about 10 years). I hope to get back to blogging properly once I return from holiday and head back to Sheffield to start my new job.

+ Dad's Day - A huge HAPPY fathers day to all the wonderful papas' out there! My brothers, sister and I and mum have planned an evening full of surprises, wine, food and good company at home.

*Bloo 88 *Sol *Carver Street *Hangover Starbs

Visits -  Sadly, I ended up selling my Parklife ticket this weekend as with a big holiday coming up it didn't feel right splurging all of my saved money on one day at a festival. Fortunately,  my week was far from ruined as a friend from home came to visit and we literally drunk Sheffield dry. Aside from our big night out, we did lots of wandering and catching up, had an amazing meal at Bloo 88, a picnic in the sun and (of course) some shopping (I did restrain!). God knows how we crammed so much in to two days but it was great to see a familiar face up north!

Bits & Bobs - My week has been filled with delightful pockets of fun: a cinema trip (where, like idiots, we walked out the cinema before the final clip of Hangover 3...), a BBQ, a swim & sauna and an impromptu road trip to Hertfordshire (thankfully taking my mind off all the fun I missed at Parklife).

Make Me Up

On the belief that sharing is caring, here is the low down on my all-time-favourite-fail-safe make up products. This is by no means a beauty blog but, it's about time these purchases got a shout out! I'll try and keep this short and sweet...

Laura Mercier Secret Concealer
(£18.50)

This concealer is one of my best make up purchases EVER. If you are like me and suffer from darkness under your eyes then this is going to be your saviour! The Secret concealer has amazing staying power (no reapplying necessary) and lightens dark areas, as well as, hiding any blemishes. It's a small pot but as it spreads easily and evenly it definitely lasts!

Shu Uemera Eyeliner Pen
(£11.50 - Cartridges sold separately)

If you wear liquid eye-liner then this is 100% the product for you (even if you don't ..this will convert you!). With a fountain pen-esque applicator, you can simply draw your eye liner on with ease. The liquid dries instantly and does not clog or smudge. What I love about this product is that it doesn't appear too heavy so is great for daytime/work wear!

Fresh Sugar Berry Lip Treatment
(£22.50)

I redeemed this bay boy back after a facial at Fresh, London and I am certainly not regretting my choice. This nourishing and moisturising tinted balm not only has SPF15 (AKA perfect for holiday) but, it's a great (and lighter) alternative to lippy. Lucky for us, Fresh continue to bring this out in a range of gorgeous colours!

Clinique Surge Tinted Moisturiser
(£21.50)

This is another of my products which contains SPF15 and is lighter alternative to foundation in the warmer months. Although it is a tinted moisturiser, it still gives really good coverage and is my must have for holidays!

MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural Powder
(£21.50)

I've seen endless praising reviews on this powder and I have to say that I absolutely love it! Unlike many other powders, this one has some serious coverage power and helps to reduce any shininess. I wear it both over foundation or if I'm feeling lazy, instead of foundation! One of the things I love about this powder is that it doesn't feel 'cakey', it blends evenly and effortlessly.

What are your favourite make-up products?!

VR Round Up 02.06.13

*Blooming *Poorly *Half Price Frapp *Bottle Of Summer  *Saturday
*Winning Shots *Saturday Night *Hangover Cure *Sunday Reading *Me

+ Peaceful - Sheffield has been particularly quiet this week and so when I injured my leg on Tuesday, I took the opportunity to take some time for myself. It was really nice to basically do nothing for a few days but I was going a bit stir crazy on my own and so welcomed the weekend with open arms. My weekend was spent catching up with a housemate from University, a night out with some friends and generally enjoying the sun!

+ Round The Bikini Bend - With less than three weeks until I go away, I am having a bit of a crisis on the bikini front. I can't seem to find one I like anywhere (YIKES) and when I have seen nice ones, they are all out of stock or no longer in my size. Any recommendations for some good swimwear would be much appreciated!

+ Serious About Series - Deciding we were fed up with TV, me and the boyfriend decided to try a few series that people have been banging on about. So far we are hooked on Game of Thrones. I'd definitely recommend giving it a watch (from the beginning...it's not one of those ones you can pick and choose episodes) although be aware of how addictive it is! I've also just completed the 8-part series Top of the Lake which kept me on my the edge of my seat throughout.
