VR Round Up 26.08.13

*Lunch Box *Taste Testing *Reggae Reggae Burgers
*Reading *Farewell London *Yet Another Train

+ Truth - Admittedly I was too caught up in the Bank Holiday to get this post done yesterday but seeing as today counts as part of the weekend it only seems fitting that I'd post today.

+ Crazy, Stupid, Busy - My last weekend in London this summer was a whirlwind of celebrations, send offs and over eating/drinking! I managed to cram in a night out in Shoreditch, a housewarming-overnight stay near Reading, a girls night in, a family lunch and a sneaky trip to Hi Sushi...and then I wonder why I am so knackered and dreading the 7.30am start tomorrow! A great time all round and was so nice to see so many lovely people, its just a shame I didn't have longer. I am also gutted that I couldn't fit in a trip to Nottinghill Carnival...looked like a blast!

+ Kick - Whilst we were still standing straight (almost) some friends and I headed to Bar Kick on Friday night! I wish I had taken some photos because it was great fun watching everyone attempt to play table football whilst drinking...I definitely saw a few peoples competitive sides appearing. Whilst I can't say I was any good, playing table football with good company and a few drinks was a great laugh. Check Bar Kick out for yourself here.

Cami Me, Cami You

Who knew such a basic wardrobe item could be so effective? The cami whilst seemingly ordinary and uninteresting is the perfect piece and it transitions effortlessly from day to evening wear.

Coming in every colour under the sun, cami's are widely and inexpensively available on the high street. Heads up - New Look and Topshop have just brought out an entire rainbow of the tops!

The simplicity of the cami is what appeals to me - you can dress it up or down with accessories until your hearts content. As it's technically still Summer (debatable though...) I've been going for lighter weight fabrics and teaming them with high-waisted pencil skirts for work and jeans and heels on the weekends.

Here are some of my favourite variations in the array available....

Low Neck - Burgundy

 Cropped - Embellished

High Neck - Shell Pink

 Low Neck - Digital Print

 Swing - Black Mesh

Holiday Postcard - Thailand

I would never turn down the opportunity to talk about travel so when I spied the Travel Supermarket 'Holiday Postcards' blogger competition, there was no way I wasn't going to give it a go.

Thailand - Sparking Adventure

The first time I flew (literally) away from the nest on an adventure was in the summer of 2010 when I made the leap and headed to Thailand for four weeks to explore and volunteer (and then again for six weeks in the summer of 2011).

It was a big (and scary) step at the time but I was dying to get out there and see what the world had to offer and boy am I glad I did!

Koh Samui

Phang Nga

Caring for and teaching children on both my trips was unforgettable - from teaching English and helping with homework to taking trips to local waterfalls and tasting the most delicious, local food - it was all incredible (and honestly at times overwhelming).

I was welcomed with open arms (literally!) and quickly felt like part of the family!

One of my fondest memories was on my 2011 trip where we surprised all of the children one Saturday morning with waffles...I have never seen so many smiling faces and shrieks of joy. It was so beautiful to see such a simple gesture so greatly appreciated.

I think being submersed (if only for a short time) in a community like that teaches you more than any guide book or tour ever could.

When I wasn't volunteering, I took advantage of the brilliant location I was in and set off to do a whole host of extraordinary things. Holding a tiger cub, scuba diving, attending one of the most renowned parties and visiting some of the worlds most beautiful locations, all rank pretty high in my book!

I'm sure that the world is filled with many awe-inspiring places, some of which I have already had the pleasure of travelling to, but I don't think I've ever fallen in love with somewhere like I did with Thailand.

VR Round Up 18.08.13

*Ping! Sheffield *Barista Session * Saturday Brunch
*Victoria Secret Splurge *Free VS Mascot *Short Shorts

+ Barista Me - Luckily enough I got to attend a barista 'how to' class through work this week and we all know I am a bit of a coffee addict, so learning how to make it 'properly' was such a great experience. Not only did I get a chance to make my favourite drinks (UMM all of them!) but taste testing wasn't half bad either. Bubble Tea, on the other hand, was an entirely strange and new experience for me!

+ Ping! - Loving the table-tennis initiative currently gracing the UK. I think it's a great idea to get people involved and I'm constantly seeing people laughing, joking and having a good time. Find your nearest table here and get involved!

+ Splurge - Took my first trip to Meadowhall (shopping centre) in ages and of course, went on a bit of a spending spree. I am so chuffed they have opened a Victoria Secret and subsequently I found myself in a bit of an underwear buying frenzy. I also nabbed the shorts above from Primark for a steal at £10...SUCCESS!

VR Round Up 11.08.13

*Nude Nails *Hair Up *Walking Coffee *Banana Bread
*Traditional *British Me *Photo Booth *Hair Restore

+ Moving - It's official, next month I'll be moving! Not very far mind, just downstairs in the building I am already in. But this means double the space and a brand new flat to throw my interior design self, if she exists, in to!

Traditional - I came over all British this Saturday and  me and a friend got traditional with scones, clotted cream, jams and raspberries. It's times like these (stuffing my face) that make me British and proud!

+ Trippin' - Feels as if I haven't stopped this summer, been taking constant little trips here and there and to-ing and fro-ing from Sheffield to London and somehow it's got to mid-August without me noticing? This summer really is flying by. I only wish I had managed to get to a festival this year!

Cut It Out

The weather in the past week has been utterly confusing and contradicting. One minute I'm out in a sun dress and sandals in the rain and the next I am in jeans and boots in the sunshine.

Well, there's on trusty fashion which I have been able to rely on as of late and that's the cut out.

The cut out became popular last year, exposing our sides and revealing our backs but it's moved further up the body this season and is gracing our shoulders.

Here are a couple of the cut outs I've been lusting over...

Forever 21

Until the weather decides on season and sticks to it, the shoulder cut out is a great way to maintain you summer style without freezing to death!
